Avekapelle takes its name from the Germanic Avan Kapella, or Ava’s chapel, dates all the way back to the 12th century. The small village is known for the Oude Zeedijk mill and its 16th-century linden tree with seven trunks, still thriving at the cemetery by the Sint-Michiels church.
