The Veurne Belfry has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list since 1999.
The Belfry or Cecilia tower (1628), part of the Renaissance Landshuis, symbolises the unification of power between the City and Veurne-Ambacht’s Castellany that came to be in 1586. The late-gothic decorative elements on its square base and octagonal superstructure in regional brick form a stark contrast with the elaborate lantern and the top structure that hark back to the Renaissance and early Baroque.
