Booitshoeke boasts a curious little church, dedicated to Sint-Audomarus (St. Omer). The old vicarage by the church, "d’oude schoole” (the old school) and the path around the church together form a picturesque spot. Booitshoeke is surrounded by the "Blote", the very flat and low-lying polder landscape of the IJzer plains, formed since the 12th century by reclamation of the salt marshes that were contained by dikes.
